Motive Behind this Seminar

It is said, “Whatever you are, depends not on the path that lies before you, but on the path that lies behind you”. Similarly, this ‘Undoing Lord Macaulay’ is not just a lecture/seminar by Dr. Vijay D. Gokhale Sir, but it is a result of his unpleasant encounters with the Indian Education System in the past 29 years of his teaching.

Sir is the Technical Director of 3 software companies – Sunbeam Infotech, Sterling Systems and PiTech Solutions. He follows a ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’, in his class. ‘Google’ about him to know more.

Sir, who is a Doctor, holds NO PhD. The ‘Doctor’ in his name pertains to the Medical field. This doctorate, awarded by the Pune University, is his only Indian Degree. He holds no computer-related degree from any Indian University.

However, the great ‘Apple’ company acknowledges him as one of the world’s 139 ‘Apple Final Cut Studio Master Pros’. He is the only Indian (first and the last) and also the only one from the Indian Subcontinent to hold this degree. The famous ARM company recognizes him as an ARM Accredited Engineer. So now, he is ‘Doctor Engineer Vijay D. Gokhale’!

The fact that a Medical Doctor gains knowledge in the Computer field, imparts it excellently to students, is a Technical Director, works in Astrology and Video Editing, which are his hobby fields and never forgets his Medical knowledge – leaves many astounded. Hence, while students are learning Computer Internals, Operating Systems, Android, iPhone, Device Drivers, etc. they also study ‘life’ from him.

Sir says, “Knowledge is Interrelated”. He proves this by relating medical science and real life examples with computers. For instance, relating the HIV virus of AIDS to the tale of Ahalya from Ramayana, or working of the CPU to that of the brain or computer booting to the first heartbeat. This makes ‘learning’ a part of life.

During relentless learning and teaching, Sir discovered a rapidly spreading CANCER embedded into the Indian Education System. The elders have fallen prey to it and children are following in their footsteps. As a Doctor and a Teacher, he has set out to fight with this impending doom by a small footstep… ‘Undoing Lord Macaulay’.
