Hello All,
Dates: 21st and 22nd September, 2019: Marked the successful completion of Dr. Gokhale Sir’s first ever seminar of his “Demo Projects”. The “Proof Of Concept” of this seminar, which was realized by Dr. Gokhale Sir a long time ago, was eventually brought into effect on 21st September, 2019.
During the course of the seminar, Sir clearly expressed the aims of the same. The primary aim being: to make the students, teachers and the professionals working in the field of “Computers” realize the inevitability of the foundation technologies (like, Win32 SDK, COM, etc.), without which the abstract technologies (like, MFC, .NET) cannot exist and prosper. So, one should excel in the foundation technologies before moving towards the abstract technologies. Highlighting and emphasizing the inevitability of those great foundations was one of the major goals of the seminar.
First Day of the Seminar:
On the first day of the seminar (21st September), Sir spoke, in a story-like manner, of his initial-most days in the field of “Computers”, when he knew absolutely nothing about them, and then of his journey and the hard work and code he put in to make all his projects possible. The audience, numbering 300, consisted not only of students and company-going professionals, but some teaching students, school teachers and college professors too!
Today, “Mobile phones / Telephone”, “Text Messaging” and “Video streaming”, are an inseparable part of our daily lives. We almost take all these technologies for granted and cannot imagine to live a single day without them. However, the situation was not so 17 years ago. Back then, the Internet and mobile phones were scarce in India and were mostly used only by the elite of the society. At that time, Sir developed all these technologies, on his own, by coding in “MAPI” (Messaging API), “SAPI” (Speech API) and “TAPI” (Telephony API).
This, in itself, is a crystal clear evidence of the immense strength and power of Win32 SDK and COM. Sir did not stop just here. After explaining about every technology and how he worked on it, he kept saying to the audience – “You can do it too!” and gave necessary guidelines so that by following them, they could successfully do whatever he did. This helped build a sense of positivity and self-confidence in the audience.
While concluding his session on the first day, Sir hinted at what the audience was about to experience in the morning session from 11:00 am to 01:00 pm the next day, dismissing them in high spirits and high anticipation for the upcoming day.
Second Day of the Seminar:
True to Sir’s hint the previous evening, at 11:00 am on Sunday, Sir’s students were ready and graced the stage with their own unique, beautiful and inspiring works of art, created using the technologies of Win32 SDK, OpenGL and DirectX and all only and only by coding. The audience was completely mesmerized and spell-bound, simply by the fact that whatever they were seeing was a product of lines and lines of code and mathematics and they shook the walls of the auditorium with their thundering and unending applause and showered praise on the creators of the magic and their work.
The demo-presenting students, right from the youngest college-going student “Chetan Kalamkar” to “Rohit Magdum” who has founded a company of his own, “Void Star India (VSI)” – which is highly successful and flourishing; all received praise and recognition for their work from the audience. They showed and proved that magic and certain (considered) impossibilities were achievable if one worked excellently at the foundation technologies.
Names of Students Who Presented their Demos:
Tanvi Arawkar, Shreerang Nandanwar, Bhushan Kalamkar, Prasanna Pawar, Prabhata Raipurkar, Raghavendra Kulkarni, Aditya Boob, Yogesh Jadhav, Bharat Mazire, Rutwik Choughule, Pranita Sharangdhar, Siddhi Ghod, Sucheta Bhagdikar, Chetan Kalamkar, Tejas Sutar, Gaurav Bhokare, Pranav Gore, Swapnil Bhave – Radhika Sahastrabudhe, Sugad Mankar, Rohit Magdum – Aashish Ayyar – Hrishikesh Dombe, Rutvij Kolhapure, Dipak Kardel, Sujay Ingale and Ninad Tulshibagwale.
Another student must be mentioned. For Sir, she has been with him just like his own shadow throughout: his daughter, Pradnya Gokhale (a.k.a. “Mithu”). The demo application of “Notepad Manipulation” presented by her father (Sir) and her very own application of “Notepad Manipulation”, which she demonstrated at the seminar seems like a live example of the concept of “Inheritance” of “Object Oriented Programming” : The Derived Class extends the Base Class to add more functionality!
While concluding the seminar, Sir spoke of another special technology and demonstrated his work in it. This technology is named “Heterogenous Parallel Programming” (HPP) (CUDA, OpenCL, etc.). On the solid rock foundation of this very technology, are based the world’s current popular technologies like BigData, Data Science, Hadoop, Data Mining, etc.
Ultimately, in Sir’s own words : “It doesn’t matter which field you are working in, as long as your basics and foundations are strong. A building with a robust and strong foundation can reach any heights without a fear of collapse. However, a building with a weak and vulnerable foundation will fall just as easily and quickly as a house of cards.”
This seminar will be called a 100% success when each and every person from the audience, imbibes this message and puts it into practice.
The audience had actually assembled to see the demo projects developed by Sir, but the demo projects developed by his students added to their self-confidence by manifold and this was proved by the feedback forms they filled up and submitted after the completion of the seminar. More than 80% of the audience expressed their wish and urged for this seminar to be conducted multiple times in the future!
Last but not the least, this was the first ever “Demo Project” seminar conducted by AstroMediComp. A fresh and new seminar, to be conducted at a new and unfamiliar location, in a new and unfamiliar seminar hall, with an audience of 300 people, for two whole consecutive days, while keeping the integrity of the property intact was a great responsibility. This responsibility was taken up and followed through and through by the volunteers of AstroMediComp. Words are inadequate to express gratitude to them.
Regards,
Team AstroMediComp.
P.S.: Taking inspiration from this seminar, current SDK Batch students (SDK 2019) surprised Gokhale Sir with their own Win32 SDK and COM Demos on Tuesday, 8th October 2019 – on the occasion of Dussehra (Sir’s Birthday)!
Total 25 demos were presented and 3 of these students had also implemented the famous “Notepad” demo of Sir, which Sir and Pradnya had presented in this seminar!!
This indicates the confidence this seminar has given to the students and it is also an evidence that this seminar was highly successful.

बाबाने (सरांनी) सादर केलेले नोटपॅड आणि “मिठूने” सादर केलेले नोटपॅड म्हणजे “Object Oriented Programming” मधील “Inheritance” ची झलकच: “Derived Class extends from Base Class to add more functionality “!
– Team AstroMediComp.
